Diagnostic Services

We don’t guess. We test. Get the truth behind that dashboard light.

The RPM Standard

A "Check Engine" light isn't a repair bill—it's a starting point. Many shops see a code and immediately start replacing expensive parts hoping one of them works. At RPM, we use professional-grade diagnostic equipment to talk to your car’s computer, but we rely on our ASE-certified technicians to find the actual root cause. We find out why a sensor failed before we suggest a replacement.

What We Diagnose

Check Engine Light

We pull the codes and perform a physical inspection of the related systems to find the source.

Strange Noises

Squeaks, clunks, whines, or rattles—if it’s making a sound it shouldn’t, we’ll track it down.

Performance Issues

Investigating stalling, rough idling, hesitating, or a sudden loss of power.

Electrical Systems

Battery drains, lighting issues, and faulty power windows, locks, or dashboard electronics.

Drivability Problems

Addressing shifting issues, "surging" while you drive, or steering response problems.

The "Why" Matters

Something's Wrong Image

Save Money

Replacing the wrong part is the most expensive way to fix a car. Accurate diagnosis prevents "parts swapping."

Keep It Running

Reliability

Fixing the symptom doesn't stop the problem from coming back. We fix the source.

Safety First

Safety

Some lights (like ABS or Airbag) mean your safety systems are offline. We prioritize these to keep you protected.

Straight Talk FAQ

Why can't I just go to a parts store for a free scan?

A parts store scan tells you what the code is, but it doesn't tell you why the code triggered. For example, an "Oxygen Sensor" code could be a bad sensor, a broken wire, or a vacuum leak. If you buy the sensor and the wire is actually broken, you’ve just wasted $150.

How long does a diagnosis take?

Most issues can be identified within an hour. More complex electrical "ghosts" can take longer. We’ll always give you an upfront estimate on diagnostic time before we start digging.

Is it okay to drive with the Check Engine light on?

If it’s steady, you should get it checked soon. If it is FLASHING, pull over and turn the engine off immediately. A flashing light means serious engine damage is happening right now.
